Interior Designers Head To The Desert For Modernism Week
Over the years, we’ve been honored to collaborate with many great architects, such as Thierry Despont, KAA Design Group, and Richard Landry. However as this week is Modernism Week, I’m reminded of my dear friend Steve Ehrlich, who was my very first collaboration.
When I was first starting my interior design business, I had neighbor in Santa Monica who was a developer. He had an eye for talent and introduced Steve and me. We basically started our careers together, doing model homes in Rialto. Years later, we both made the prestigious AD Top100 List. Everybody starts somewhere, and it was an immense privilege to start my career alongside Steve.
This weekend we will both be attending Modernism Week in Palm Springs. Steve has an unbelievable talent for designing modern homes that are environmentally conscious and meaningful in their architecture. Just check out these images of his project in Ridge Mountain - a sculptural property that seamlessly reflects the surrounding beauty.
Ehrlich spent six years in the 1970s living and working in Africa, serving for two years with the Peace Corps as their first architect in Marrakech, Morocco; he later traveled across the Sahara and taught architecture at Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria. His unique background and his expertise in the craft make him, in my opinion, one of the greatest architects of our time.
I am so excited for Modernism Week and to be back at events in person! Modernism Week is a 10 day event that celebrates mid-century modern design, architecture, art, fashion and culture. Architecture fans and professionals come from all over the country!
A huge thank you to JennAir and Ferguson for including me in their Modernism Week events. JennAir and Feguson are both incredible brands that I’ve had the privilege of working with over the years.
It’s going to be a great weekend!
